Holy Hobbit Hole

Am I a dork to think this project is kind of cool? probably. Some major geeks want to build a real live hobbithole.

"In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort."

J. R. R. Tolkien, "The Hobbit"

okay, the project looks interesting.

but am i going to contribute? no. the guy basically wants other people to finance the building of his home just because it will be a 'hobbit hole.'

uh, okay, then i'm going to ask star wars fans pay for a house for me if i promise to build a shrine to yoda in the basement... not cool.

then he likens his request for donations similar to that chick who got people on the internet to pay for her boob job. okay: internet... chick... boob job... OF COURSE she got idiotic horndogs on the net to give her money. lotr fans may be as prevalent on the net as the horndogs (and there may be some overlap there), but i'm hoping they're not all that stupid.

also, soliciting money on the internet when you're not a) a legit business or b) a charity, is what we here in shannonland call 'wrong.'
