no pill for you!

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Check out the newest debate over "pharmacists rights" . A number of states are trying to pass laws that allow pharmacists to refuse to dispense drugs that violate their moral and religious beliefs. This means that they can refuse to provide birth control, the morning after pill, caffeine products (if they're mormon) name it.

I can't help but think that this not going to screw people like me who live in big blue liberal cities with thousands of pharmacies.

in that case, can wall-mart clerks refuse to sell guns?

you should go to the planned parenthood website and sign a petition against this. it may not affect us, but there are women out there who may need the pill for non-sexually related uterus problems, or for sexually related hornieness problems, either way it's no place for anyone to judge and refuse medication (especially with a prescription).

Sign the petition and check out the PP Action Center....

If these types of laws pass, I wonder if the pharmacies would have to self-regulate.

If, for example, a woman becomes pregnant after the Walgreen's in her town refused to give her the morning after pill, could she sue? If the child comes to term, would Walgreen be responsible for child support? their education at princeton? This might be good incentive for them to hire reasonable pharmacists.
